This is a shocking article - but the really sad thing is that this family of scroungers are not an isolated case : there are more, and they all seem to glory in it. Makes my blood boil.

ThumbDown Eek, I'm not even going to read it!! It will no doubt put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I can guess the contents from everyone's reactions! Mad

My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

Criminal! I don't understand how the DWP and other Government Departments can't see through these people, they're almost as bad as the scroungers themselves for allowing it to happen!

What I want to say is not printable!!! how can this family get this amount of "free" money (mainly yours and mine!!) to live on and be in the lap of luxury when others suffer, and cannot afford to hea their homes etc. I am so angry!!!

Very unhappy after reading this article, hope today's election result makes a difference, but somehow doubt that it will. I often wonder why I work the hours I do along with the stress it brings - perhaps I should just give up.

Jack Daniels daily for medicinal purposes!? What doctor would have sanctioned that?!!
Too ill to work, well he must be exhausted by all the trouble he is causing in his neighbourhood.

There was a very similar story in the paper the other day, same story, different family... :(

Priorities all wrong....
and gives genuine claimants little hope,

I would vote for anyone who had promised to do something about this but sadly it will probably still continue...
what does it teach the kids...? hmmm, seems fairly obvious tho' from the story details.....

Incidentally, Im finding it a bit scary at the moment that we dont really have a government, just hoping and praying that we dont have any kind of crisis then one of them will HAVE to kick in to action....

Im off to work now, my friends - Gotta pay for Mr Houghtons booze..... we dont want him to run out! :(

Well it would seem people like mr houghton is one of the reasons for the witch hunt on disability benefits. Oh and the daily mail is nortrious for finding these type of extreme cases. I question if Mr houghton actually saw this story before going to print. It would be brilliant if there was some media that would balance the argument particularly over complex conditions like ours. Not expecting much sympathy or u turns on the new welfare reform from the new government either.

It is infuriating and it is upsetting for all genuine claimants. However, the Mail is always running this article with just a few of the blood boiling details altered each time and it just makes a lot of our fellow citizens want to abolish the benefits system, which I would not wish to see. Reforms always just make the life of proper claimants a total misery.
